Meet our Teachers and Staff

ACL’s teaching team is made up of experienced and dedicated professionals with specialist qualifications in teaching English. Our ongoing professional development program ensures teachers stay up to date with the latest teaching techniques.

Simon Dry – Director of Studies
B.Sc. (Hons) Psychology - University of Adelaide
DELTA – IH

Simon leads a vibrant teaching and administrative team at ACL. He joined ACL in 2001 as a teacher, and was the Coordinator of the General English and Cambridge programs for more than 4 years.  In his current role, Simon oversees our dedicated team of teachers, ensuring that the courses meet the needs of our students.

Craig Wharton – EAP Coordinator
Bachelor of Arts (Sydney University)
Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), Australian TESOL Training Centre

Craig is responsible for managing and developing our EAP course, and coordinating our team of EAP teachers. He has worked for ACL since January, 2003, in which time he taught extensively on all EAP programs. Craig previously operated a private business in marine surveying for 25 years and therefore offers a wealth of practical business experience. Craig has been EAP Coordinator since June, 2005 and works closely with our EAP teachers to ensure students are as well prepared as possible for future tertiary studies. He is always available to answer any questions about EAP courses.


Jack Ellis – Teacher
B.Mus (Composition) – University of Sydney
CELTA – Australian TESOL Training Centre

Jack is one of our talented teachers at ACL. He is currently teaching General English. He enjoys watching students’ English improve and helping them to achieve their study goals. Your class teacher helps you make the most of your English studies.
