Ways of Learning in AMEP


Class Delivery

At ACL AMEP Colleges, students have the choice of studying full-time or part-time in day or evening classes.

All ACL AMEP Consortium teachers are qualified and experienced professionals. Teachers use an extensive range of learning materials such as books, CDs and DVDs to help the students make the most of their learning.

At ACL AMEP Consortium, the classes are interactive, informative and enjoyable.

Distance Learning

As part of their AMEP learning, students can choose to study in the Distance Learning Program.

This program is designed to assist people who find it difficult to attend classes regularly. It makes it possible to study at home with the help of a qualified, experienced distance learning teacher.

In the Distance Learning Program:

  • The teacher sets up a program for each student.
  • The learning material is sent to the student in the post.
  • Some lessons are given on the telephone or via email if the student has access to the Internet.
  • Student can visit the teacher at an ACL College in person.
  • Distance Learning Program can be combined with part-time class-based study, home tutor or studying at the Individual Learning Centre.

Home Tutor Scheme

Students who are eligible to study in the AMEP but cannot attend classes can enrol in the Home Tutor Scheme (HTS).

In the Home Tutor Scheme:

  • A trained tutor helps the student to learn English at home.
  • The tutor is matched to the student’s needs
  • The tutor helps the student to built their confidence and improve their skills needed to settle in Australia
  • Students can enrol in the Distance Learning Program as well as  the Home Tutor Scheme
  • The Home Tutor Scheme is especially helpful for women who are pregnant or have young families

Blended Delivery

You can choose to combine your learning options:

  • Distance Learning plus a home tutor
  • Part time class plus hours in the Individual Learning Centre
  • A home tutor plus hours in the Individual learning Centre
  • Distance Learning plus a home tutor plus hours in the Individual Learning Centre
